Vulnerable New Orleans lies in the path of the intensifying hurricane, which is expected to make landfall between tonight and early Sunday. Winds gusting as high as 100 mph and flooding threaten the region. Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida have all declared a state of emergency. Nate is blamed for at least 22 deaths in Nicaragua and Costa Rica, mainly from flash flooding.
