August Wilson was the blues, and Ma Rainey was his muse

PITTSBURGH (AP) - August Wilson, poet, playwright and Pittsburgher, wrote in the language of the blues. He learned it in his hardscrabble youth spent in the Hill District, and he learned it from the recordings of artists such as Gertrude "Ma" Rainey, the Mother of the Blues.
