Racism carved away a piece of Hank Aaron’s heart. What remained was still a gift.

As much as we love and admire Hank Aaron, we were denied the experience of the man in full. Racism forced him to build a wall, one that he fortified through the years out of self-preservation. It is a wall that many Black Americans put up just to survive.
