?Sharp Objects? certainly looks like the best show of the summer, but is it?

The HBO miniseries premieres tomorrow. It seems to have it all: the right source material, the right director and the right star. But the show is a difficult, languid endeavor, and it's easy to imagine viewers ghosting after two or three episodes.
