No single movie dominated the night as the awards were spread among one of the most diverse slates of films and artists in recent memory. Alfonso Cuarón was named best director for "Roma." Spike Lee scored his first Oscar win while three nonwhite actors — Malek, Regina King and Mahershala Ali — won major acting awards.
